Fallen Leaves Ring
As a nod to Earth Day and the arrival of Spring, this month’s delivery is a sterling silver, gold, or rose gold ring in the shape of a leaf.
More than 90% of the world’s population lives in the northern hemisphere. This means that for most of us, the sun is shining, seeds are sprouting, flowers are blooming, and wildlife is singing. Each day, Mother Nature nudges us further into the light half of the year.
This is a cause for celebration.
In the modern world, we call it Earth Day. A time when we give thanks to our resilient home planet and the generous gifts showered upon those of us lucky enough to walk upon her lands. We remind ourselves that nobody owns the earth, and without nature’s constant ebb and flow, humankind would cease to exist.
In the old world, things weren’t all that different.
Towards the end of April and the beginning of May, Ancient Romans hosted a six-day festival called Floralia. Anyone who worshipped Flora, the goddess of flowers and vegetation, would partake in games, lavish feasts, and performances in her honor. Even if Flora wasn’t your matron goddess, Romans could still show appreciation to earthly spirits by adorning themselves in flowers and scattering seeds to the wind. This simple offering to the land was a sign of your desire to give as much as you receive.
Even though there’s only one day of the year dedicated to Mother Nature, Gaia, Earth, or whatever name you use for this planet, we hope that this month’s Stella encourages you to show appreciation as freely and as often as you can.
