While not location specific, this months piece came to us from inspiration of many foreign lands.
As we move about the world and explore new places, we are always amazed by our similarities as well as our differences to places and people we have never met.
No matter where we are in the world, there is always something that binds us as humans and sets us apart as a culture.
We chose a feather as this months piece as it is one staple we have seen in almost every place we have visited. For the indigenous peoples of North America, the feather represents connection to the Spirit. In ancient Egypt, the goddess Ma’at wears a single ostrich feather that is said to be the feather of truth. The Highlanders of Scotland placed a feather in their cap to symbolize rank in their clan. In Mesoamerica (pre -colonial Mexico) feathers were considered magickal and were symbols of fertility, abundance and the divine.
We chose the abalone shell in honor of the adage, “as above so below;” as the sea is the opposite of the sky and balance is always necessary.
We hope you connect with this piece as much as do and wish you safe travels wherever you may go.
